I've always had a bad habit when it comes to listening to my music. As someone with a large collection I always find myself listening to the same dozen records day in and day out. Although it isn't a bad thing to have these favourites, I wanted to make an effort to explore the depths of my collection properly.
Last year I attempted to listen to a "new" record every day. I use the word new lightly, as I don't mean a new release (although they are not excluded) but instead a record I haven't heard before. I wasn't completely successful, missing out days here and there, and I didn't start this venture until the spring. As someone who isn't big on new years resolutions, be it because they don't last or I don't see the joy in giving up something I enjoy, I decided to take it more seriously this year. I haven't missed a day yet, and often over-deliver on my goal, listening to more than one record a day. I am including EP's as well as full lengths, with live recordings also getting a look in.
The aim of this blog is to try and combine both the challenge of listening to a new record every day and also digging something out of my collection that either hasn't been given any attention for a long time or something I listened to once and overlooked.
No genre is excluded, and if anyone out there is reading and interested in this journey i'm taking, recommendations are always welcomed.
